Had never once heard about it nor do I know a single person that “celebrates” it. If it’s genuinely a national holiday in the same way that President’s Day or what-have-you is, that’s cool with me. Sincerely don’t care and it likely won’t change my life beyond random memes and the occasional internet comment. But acting like it’s some sacred celebration that has always been observed is flat out retarded and stupid and I have no issue calling a person a liar if they pretend otherwise. I’m guessing the media wouldn’t fly into a conniption fit if Trump held a rally on Memorial Day (a day that is unquestionably much more observed and recognized across the US), so perhaps they could tone down on the hypocrisy for two seconds and accept that this is just a lesser known holiday that most Americans only ever saw as some random “What the fuck is ‘Juneteenth’?” back in the day of physical calendars that listed every obscure observation.
I work in a union construction company. Workers are Hispanic and caucasian. Wed be mighty happy if the feds make it a holiday. A day off, and getting paid.
