I am constantly fighting to stop gritting my teeth every time I read the news or watch Tim Pool's youtube news updates. Social media has ruined public discourse by getting children addicted to dopamine hits from everyone trying to escalate and outdo everyone else so that they can get that buzz when the attention is on them. Today, the average child checks their phones 140 times per day. They are addicted.
This is a societal scourge. For the first time in my life, I have seen the limits of where free speech should reach. The more national a voice is, the more heavily it should be limited. No hyperbolic statements. No spreading fallacies. No whipping people into a frenzy like those blue checkmarks cheering on the rioters.
You think that's extreme? Tell me what private meetings you are attending with the mass media where they are telling you they plan to stop escalating the rhetoric and driving people insane? People literally believe anything some Blue Checkmark on Twitter might say and treat it as gospel.
It's like with wealth and power. The more you have, the less franchise you should have in a democracy. Because ultimately, you can just buy politicians and join the fucking club as it is right now. Naw. Frankly, I would make it illegal for politicians to meet in private with other politicians or members of corporations or wealthy/rich/powerful individuals outside Congress chambers. That way they cannot plot anything to enrich themselves and screw us. They could only meet in chamber to discuss and debate motions and bills. And term limits. That way, nobody can ever get comfortable and entrenched in their seats by turning them into for-profit vehicles for themselves. Fuck I'm mad!
I want the rich and powerful to just fucking stop with this Brave New World shit and leave us the fuck alone and stop brain washing and controlling our children in public schools but I can't think of a good way to do it that doesn't turn me into another Robespierre.
