Silence is violence has to be one of the stupidest catchphrases I've ever heard...
No matter what direction you look at it from and no matter how you fucking spin it.... No... Silence is never fucking violence. Just because something rhymes doesn't mean it's a good saying or even makes fucking sense at all...
it's not a stupid catchphrase because it's actually based on truth. The biggest enemy of any movement in history are not the people who actively stand against the movement. it's the people who secretly support the movement in their heads but don't do anything to help them
Martin Luther King was saying those things because he was saying that the biggest enemies to the civil Rights movement was not the racist that supported segregation. It were the moderates that agreed with them but did nothing to help. those are the biggest obstacles. And it's true. The biggest obstacles and any movement are the people who agree with the movement but are too lazy to do anything to help them. They keep the numbers down and by being silent you are siding with the bad guys. You're not taking the middle ground. In these kinds of things there is no neutrality. You're either with us or you're against us..
and if you're not going to actively help us then your silence is emboldening the other side..
so it's an actual phrase and it actually means something. your silence is actively hurting the cause. your silence is hurting the movement. your silence is hurting people. It costs you nothing speak out. it's one of the easiest things you can possibly do. but you're too evil too even put that much effort in
and that's the problem. Fake supporters. every movement has its fake supporters. People who kind of may be supported but won't do anything to actually support it..
so obviously nobody's saying that your silence is actively drawing blood on somebody. but it's a metaphor. silence is violence. it's a metaphor the uneducated people can't understand
you claim to support conservatism but you won't do anything to support conservatism. you claim to support Trump but you won't do anything to support Trump
"but i voted!"
so?
to the extent of what you did to support the movement is that one set of four years you managed to take 15 minutes out of your day to drive to a building and pull a lever. That is literally beyond lazy. I've never seen somebody so lazy. That is below the bare minimum for what you can do..
all that proves is that you really don't care.
imagine if Trump was as lazy is that? sitting on his ass and doing absolutely nothing except every 4 years pulling a lever? instead he works his ass off every day fighting for you. but you do absolutely nothing to fight for himm
honestly he should put the same amount of effort for you as you put in for him. it's all you're willing to do is grumble on the internet and pull the lever once every four years and that's all he should do for you. No executive orders. No repealing regulations no tax cuts no holds on immigration no border wall nothing. He should sit in his office and make a couple of tweets today and then once every four years he can sign his name on a petition
you don't deserve him to do more than that if you're not willing to do more than thatt
