Ye, unbelievable. Those 17 and 18 year old gave their lives for this. On THAT DAMN BEACH.

First soldier into battle on D-Day was my Mom's Uncle. Survived the entirety of Operation Overlord, and was still with the 101st airborne for the battle of Bastogne. Came home intact, both physically and mentally, lived a full life and died of old age on natural causes.

Uncle Frank would be the first to tell you there was nothing special about him, it just took DETERMINATION.

It's our turn to be heroes, soon. We can do this

Thank you. Thank your family. A lot of people don't even know what they did for us that day. But I know. My grandma knows, she told me. Random killings in the street because the local German officer got an angry message from above, so he had to make some numbers (no police). The fact that they put us up against each other angers me. I love the US, the Western World, and what it stands for.

Too bad its so long ago, but i would have loved to personally thank him and knowing he would just go 'son, dont be a soyboy, we were determined to grab the nazis and kick them'. :D
