On June 25 CA Assembly will vote to repeal Proposition 209 (1996), which prohibits the state from discriminating against, or granting preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.
ACA 5 passed the California State Assembly on June 10, 2020, and was sent to the California State Senate. If approved, it would ultimately lead to a fall 2020 ballot proposition to voters asking voters to approve the constitutional amendment to repeal Proposition 209's provisions.
