Anyone attempting to prevent police or other first responders to reach someone who is seriously injured/ill should be shot on sight. If that means police have to shoot a whole line of "protesters" who have linked arms to block police, so be it.
This behavior boils down to attempted murder, and people caught by law enforcement in the act of attempting to cause the death of another person should be handled just like vicious dogs attacking a child. It would be nice to arrest them and charge them with attempted murder, and put them on trial, and convict them, but there are just too many of them to do that, and that shouldn't mean police just stay back and let their victims die.
