Typical h1b timeline-

Get hired on due to having unmeetable requirements fulfilled on a resume

EG job "requires" 20 years server 2019 experience, h1b applicant has it.

Move to major liberal city, earns slave wages in comparison to American peers (60k in San Francisco for example). Dog piles in with multiple h1bs in a shared dwelling.

Result? Americans lose jobs, real estate gets more competition because 20 h1bs are willing to pile up in a house and pay over market rent, companies profit.

J1s are similar. They're "student visas" meant to give students (which are often in their 50s) the international experience. The trick to that one is bringing them into high salary cities and paying them minimum wage plus forcing them to pay the sponsor rent. It's good old fashioned indentured servitude.
