I attend a largely black school. I don't know what percentage, but suffice to say that the state is 51% black.

It's a consolidated county school, so its social/economic groups are nowhere near as concentrated as a city school is, but still.

We had fights monthly (at least) until the principal changed the rules and had anyone who fights arrested and charged with assault.

Since the student population is large (over a thousand) there are four separate lunch sessions, and I've only witnessed a couple fights. That said, in every fight I saw, in person or recorded, all combatants were black. I'm confident that there were a few white guys who got into one, maybe more, but never an Asian.

The hardest class available to Sophomores was AP European History. Taking that class is something of a badge of honor in my school. The teacher, now retired, was the meanest, toughest, most demanding guy in the building. It is optional, and there are always empty seats. When I took that class, two (or three, there were two sessions) students out of thirty were black. They're pretty bright and worked hard, and ended up doing pretty well, like everyone else who kept the class. Anyone who didn't work hard either dropped the class or never chose it in the first place. The greatest proportion of "never chose" was black.

The main problem with students who did poorly was refusal to apply themselves and/or behave.
