I too have seen this exact thing, at the end of elementary school I took a test called the FCAT, basically state standardized testing. I was one of the highest scorers in my school and was offered a spot in the magnet school program, seemed like a great opportunity. That was until I got there. It was an inner city school that was 70% black and would pull in suburban white kids with high test scores so they could increase their average. It was a scam.
I was threatened every day, beaten twice. This was 6th grade. I was thrown under a portable classroom and had my life threatened. The color of my skin was referenced in every situation. I was knocked out in the locker room for using the wrong sink. I had the entire contents of my backpack stolen from me. I witness students in every class bully their teachers to the point of tears, or in one case pissing her pants. It was constant chaos.
When my dad finally learned of everything I was going through (only 2 months on) he confronted the principal, who basically told him tough shit nothing we can do about it. Shit happens.
My dad pulled me out and put me in a private christian school thank god.
