Maybe its the sea of clown shit we're wading in, but this year is hitting me harder than most. My dad died suddenly when I was 22. I feel like I got shorted a good 20 fathers days at least. Some people dont get any, I guess, so at least i have something.
I love this. When I was little I used to make up my Dad’s hair. I’d put like 20 barrettes in it and pull little tufts sticking in weird places. (He had short hair but it was still long enough to mess it up nicely ) He’d keep checking in asking, “ you’re making me pretty right?” And I’d say, “Yes, Daddy!!” And I’d just be guffawing knowing how awful it looked. It always ended up the same. He’d go to the mirror to see how pretty he was and then he’d give this ear shattering scream and I’d fall into the floor laughing. Good times. Love my Dad 😊❤️
It applies to both boys and girls, of course. I memorized this poem when I was in middle school, and encountered it again as an adult. I realized that I had met every one of those criteria by the time I was 30, including the part about having everybody around me losing their heads, and blaming it on me.
These are the things an adult needs to be able to do, in order to live well in the world and protect a family. Raise your kids to this standard.
This is why radicals want to get R. Kipling out of the school curriculum. It's not because he is a dead, white male, but because solid families that raise competent adults are a barrier to The Revolution.
