Do you ever get the sense these people see the country as "black and white" and want AT LEAST a 50/50 representation everywhere?

It doesn't matter if it's in the boardroom, the cubicle farm, or the police department. They literally seem to want an equal number of black people working as white people. And if there are more black people, awesome.

The argument that blacks are only 15% of the population is willfully or negligently ignored by these people. Otherwise why so hellbent on having a black woman be the VP pick for Sleepy Joe for "representation"? Women are half the population, why isnt' just a woman good enough?

To be clear, I'm against affirmative action and hiring/selection based on race at any level.

But this argument is like professional sports. Black people don't have a problem that most of the NBA is black, and honestly neither do I. Because I'm reasonably certain the 300 or so best basketball players in the world are in the NBA, and yea, most of them happen to be black. That's the way it should be. But a lot of players are crying out that ownership and front offices should be more representative of the players as well. Ok, then what do you want? Do you want a meritocracy? Do you think a multi billion dollar industry where there can only be 1 winner each season is not picking the absolute BEST people for the job? Or do you want race based quotas? And if so, why not at the player level, too? Only 15% of the players should be black then, right?

This is the type of argument with "representation" that's the problem.
