Trump played him like a fiddle. He would use Bolton’s insane war mongering to bring the other side to the table until a negotiation was made and then Bolton would be pissed he didn’t get his war. Trump did this a couple times with North Korea, China, and Iran. Bolton still doesn’t get he was being used as leverage.

It's a rather interesting take. And honestly, applying lex parsimoniae, it's the simplest reason. I never understood why the heck Trump brought Bolton into the administration, but this is brutally simple, makes a heck of a lot of sense, and was staring me right in the face.
I've always thought this was exactly why Trump brought Bolton in - to psychologically screw with our enemies. They all know Bolton is a war monger, they were probably shitting themselves knowing Bolton could get permission to bomb the shit out of them. It probably made a lot of them think twice about doing something stupid.
Of course we all know Trump would never do that unless he had a very good reason, but our enemies don't know that! It also helps that the media portrays Trump as an unhinged lunatic, with makes it easier for our enemies to think he really will bomb the shit out of them.
Did you just drop a French Occam’s razor?
Latin. And, yes, I was in a pretentious mood. And wanted to make the commie shills scratch their heads and grab a dictionary.
Fancy. I like it.
War is profitable, and military guys cant get promoted without a war command.
Trump already answered this question a while back. He said he didn't know Bolton well but wanted someone in his administration to represent the "hard-liner" viewpoint.
Before he even got shitcanned and was still in the cabinet Trump said “if it were up to him we’d be in world war six.”
