Trump played him like a fiddle. He would use Bolton’s insane war mongering to bring the other side to the table until a negotiation was made and then Bolton would be pissed he didn’t get his war. Trump did this a couple times with North Korea, China, and Iran. Bolton still doesn’t get he was being used as leverage.

I tried to tell people this at the time. Nothing else made sense. Everyone knew who Bolton was, including Trump.

I was sitting with family when news broke that Bolton was hired. This was just as rumors were going around about some sort of talks happening with NK, and Pompeo was going to visit them.

One of my relatives asked why Trump would hire the "war mustache"? Pretty much everyone else there said watch, he's gonna send Bolton to talk to them and scare them into having peace talks.

Sure enough, just a week or so later, rumors were that Bolton was also talking to NK, and we all later saw him there as part of one of the guys sitting at the negotiating table.

So yeah, it seemed really obvious at the time what was going on. We even predicted he would be fired at a later stage of the negotiations, and he was.

I had a feeling this was the case as well.
