Shes a 76 year old woman of the 60's era. Hippie, democrat, not specifically the greatest politics....but she's my mother and it's my duty to love her and look after her.

Today I went to her place and we were visiting and talking about the rally and the violence around the country and I happened to mention that for as much as she dislikes Donald Trump...it certainly isn't Trump supporters and "white supremacists" going around burning the country and engaging in political violence.

To which she said, "Of course its Trump supporters, he's a bad man and has divided the country and all the violence going on is white supremacists".

So I was a bit taken aback as it was pretty ignorant sounding, coming from my own mother, who was a pretty smart woman, overall, as she'd raised me and I'd turned out alright, so I asked: "Could you explain where you have seen Trump supporters committing violence?"

So she immediately launched off onto Charlottesville and how those terrible white guys were carrying torches and calling Trump "their emperor" and how that was evidence that Trump supporters are committing all the violence....neglecting to even realize that;

  1. That happened in 2017

  2. Her overall grasp of the story as it happened there is tenuous at best

  3. It's currently 2020 and the looting and burning going on has nothing to do with Trump other than its happening during his administration.

I love my mother, I always will, and I will never abandon her but this level of apostolic inability to detangle her hatred from Trump with the absolute lies she's been fed that support it gives me a deep level of hopelessness and depression in regards to how far people will go to rationalize their hatred of Trump by any means necessary, even by collectively or individually reimagining history and applying it as examples of the guilt of Trump and his supporters for the current strife going on in our nation.

I did try to correct her as best I could but her head is too programmed by the Main Stream Media, she argues in circles, refuses to concede any points of fact, and simply says "you're wrong, I read things from all over" when you try to point out where her information is obviously in error. Apparently the people that get their news from the Fake News think all the other news is Fake News too. William Casey would be very proud.

We went and got her groceries, I made her lunch, but I left very sad, not so much for myself or for her, but for all the people like her out there, and all the people like me...that love those people, that can't reach them because of what the media has done to us all.

God help us. Because I don't think anyone else can anymore.

Sorry for wall of text, I don't really have anywhere else to put this.

Honestly, I would have ditched her. Then again, my mother is a psycho liberal who tried to kill me when I was a kid. Haven't seen her in 25 years. And wouldn't you know it that she ended up marrying a cuckservative. Last I heard she still verbally abuses him every day.

I wrote a similar wall of text a couple of weeks ago after I got into it with my family who immediately said that Americans should stop voting racists in the aftermath of what happened to George Floyd. I started with "what racists?" The incident happened in a dem city, dem district and dem state that has a US Senator as well. It didn't end well. A sibling asked what happened to me, implying I'd become a racist. We're not even white (they're all in Asia). They rely on CNN for their US news. Needless to say, I'm not talking to that sibling anymore and I'm limiting my contact with all of them because I know they think like him.

I'd have said of course racists are the worst that's why we have to vote the Democrats out!

That will go over their head.

LOL. They think Kaepernick is some sort of martyr. A victim of racism.

My kids sound exactly like this. I do not know how to reach them. One lives in one of the worst of festering riot-torn cities but insists it's all "fine," just like that meme with the dog in the burning restaurant.

Another sounds like the mother in this post and insists that the AP is a source of conservative news. It was once, but not any longer; but you cannot tell him that. He agrees that candidates should practice what they preach but cannot explain why Bernie Sanders wants socialism for my children but owns four houses himself.

They don't understand that when I confront them, it's not just a game of politics. I genuinely fear that they will not inherit the freedom I had. I tell them they are being used by the Left and the real goal is ONLY for the Democrat Party to get its power back, and they just laugh.

I fear for their safety because they are so oblivious to how bad it really is in that riot-torn city. And they are highly intelligent and very decent people, but somehow have been taken in by the Left.

Mark Twain said, "It's easier to fool someone than to convince them that they have been fooled." And he was completely right.

All of this is terrible. It's heartbreaking and it scares me to death. But as God is my witness, I do not know what I can do about it.

You can do nothing. Telling them the truth is enough. One day they may wake up, or maybe not. For certain they will only see it on their own.

I went from being an atheist back to a Christian. Surprised my mom, but nothing she said could have convinced me either way. I had to find out myself.

You should raise vast sums of money then let them see half of it get sucked up by the government. Red pill from beyond the grave

You could show them streams where black people are setting fires to things and they will still think it is white supremacist. They were told by their media its white supremacists. It does not matter that the idea that a white supremacist would not be very successful in a mob of angry black people - but in their mind - they do not think black people have the agency to think for themselves or make their own choices. Obviously white supremacists were tricking them.

It's just white supremacists with blackface and body tan on!

Hang in there. Lots of frens here to vent to. We may not be able to do anything but listen, but we can do that for you.

People do not think. They do not actually consider things rationally. They just accept what they are fed like zombies. The last few years have convinced me the vast majority of people are too damn dim bulbed to be saved.

Your relationship with your mother is far more important than politics. If I were you, I wouldn't agree with her, but I wouldn't try to sneak a red pill into her weekly pill counter.

Hang in there and enjoy the time you have left with her.

Its tough, i have a neighbor who is an old Croatian couple. When I was a kid they were always great neighbors and almost like another set of grandparents. Sadly both are snorting blue pills with similar levels of delusion. Even though I moved to a different neighborhood I still stop by every week or so to mow their lawn or pick up groceries for them. They always want to engage in politics. A few times I naively responded but they arent really interested in a discussion or exchange of ideas, more they just want to rant. Theyd bring up something like kids in cages, I'd point out Trump is requesting funding to improve detention centers, speed up hearings and the kids in cages was started under Obummer. They want none of it, they just want to be mad and quickly shift to another fake news sound bit.

I still do what I can for them but their level of TDS is strong and incurable. I just do what I can to steer clear of politics with them.

My mom said the same thing at the start of this but then I sat down and watched some videos with her of all the looting and violence and she changed her tune quick.

4
saveMySpeech 4 points ago +4 / -0

I am kind of surprised at that. I would have expected a "they are just white supremacists with black face and tan on"

AlexF 6 points ago +6 / -0

I'm in the same boat with my mom. We DO NOT talk politics, kinda sad

Show her the videos of eldery white women being attacked at random by black thugs. They are disturbing but the best red pills are those that hit close to home.

I know how you feel. My lovely neighbor friend, hippie era democrat thinks it's white supremacists that are the problem. I looked at her seriously confused and she told me they are all over in their big trucks, glaring at her like they want to run her over. She is a beloved person in our community and I was floored at that statement. We live in one of the safest towns in Southern California. She considers herself anti-fascist because she's against fascism, but can't see who the true fascists are! So frustrating! I know her heart is in the right place, but she is blind and brainwashed and nothing is going to change her mind. She can't even say Trump's name!

Tell her you will wear a BLM shirt in front of a thousand trump supporters. And then ask if she would wear a maga hat in front of 25 BLM protesters.

I have a brother who is similar. Thinks he is very well informed, but in reality knows little. You just speak the truth and move on. Not everyone will wake up, some may even die never knowing the truth.

It’s alright. The truth cannot be forced on people. Allow them to live in error the way God lets us make mistakes.

This is verbatim the story of my me and my mom as well. totally demoralizing because she believes in aliens and conspiracy theories, but I feed her red pills once or twice a week and now she at least has the wherewithal to question what she is being fed by msm and social media.

The boomers don't know propaganda was made legal in 2013. They don't understand all msm and big tech is linked to one party that is desperately trying to cling to power and a dying plan of globalism.

We have to educate them. we are the teachers now.

Fun fact. Jason Kessler (quite ironic Jewish (Ashkenazi) origins last name for a supposed nazi) - the organizer of the "unite the right " Charlottesville rally was an Obama supporter and was a Occupy movement activist (hard leftists).

Wiki says "Up to 2008" but that's a lie (maybe on purpose because of Wikipedia bias) because Occupy movement was in 2012 and Kessler was an activist at the Occupy movement.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Kessler

In his own words, he described himself as a "professional provocateur":

https://www.roanoke.com/news/virginia/kessler-described-as-one-time-wannabe-liberal-activist/article_19a56afe-417d-5393-b9af-bf5a9fa2ff57.html

“I can’t think of any occupation that I admire more than the professional provocateur, who has the courage and self-determination to court controversy despite all slings and arrows of the world,” he wrote in December 2015 as part of a blog post he updated a few times over a span of about two months — his “running thoughts.”

His ex gf who's herself a democrat activist said Kessler was a liberal, strict vegetarian, atheist and embraced friends of different ethnicities. He even broke up with her because she wasn't lefty enough. His roommate of many years was an African immigrant:

Laura Kleiner, a Democratic activist who lives in Staunton, said she dated Kessler for several months in 2013. She said Kessler was very dedicated to his liberal principles, and that he was a strict vegetarian, abstained from alcohol and drugs, embraced friends of different ethnicities and was an atheist.

“He broke up with me, and a lot of it was because I was not liberal enough,” she said. “I am a very progressive Democrat … but he didn’t like that I ate fish and that I’m a Christian.”

Kleiner said Kessler was well aware that she was of Jewish heritage, and that he showed no signs of being anti-Semitic. She also said he had a roommate for several years who was an African immigrant.

Also so convenient that his picture on wikipedia is a selfie of him wearing a MAGA hat.

It's so obviously fake. How exactly does a hard lefty, Obama supporter, Occupy Wall street activist who breaks up his gf because she's not lefty enough and describes himself as a "professional provocateur" become a Nazi??? My theory is that he being the "professional provocateur" that he claims to be created this whole fake rally by dressing up in enemies' clothings and make them look bad.
