What scares me is that there are two possibilities for why lefties are buying guns.
They have been red pilled and now understand the need for the second amendment for self-defense
They see the writing on the wall and are arming up for what has been perceived as an inevitable upcoming civil war.
I pray it’s first one because a civil war would actually screw up this nation in a multitude of ways.

Ok, you have a point but there's a few key things you're not taking into consideration. One, most people on the right don't think in racial ways like that, at least not to the level we're lead to believe. If anything, that would help divide the left further. This is already happening in CHAZ. Second, those guerilla wars you cited all had battle hardened insurgents fighting 18 year olds with less passion than the insurgents....and in some cases, 18 year old draftees. As someone who listened to NPR for nearly 20 years, it definitely needs to happen. They've always been left wing, they've always pushed agenda - but as with most things the TDS has absolutely gotten the best of them. I can't even turn them on anymore, and when I do out of habit I pretty much immediately cringe.
The last time I accidentally turned them on instead of Rush Limbaugh, they were talking about how Climate Change is racist. I had a few different radio shows in college and one of them was classical. I'd do the NPR voice as a joke sometimes. It's so pathetic.
The sad thing about that is some group polled NPR listeners and Rush listeners and found that Limbaugh's followers knew more current events and more accurately than NPR listeners. Maybe back in the 2000's or so. If I can find it, will add a link.
That was fascinating. I wish they had a more recent set of data. But I thought it was quite telling that the highest proportion of educated listeners included Rush and Oreilly, and one of the lowest was CSPAN. Also that according to that one table, it appears as though even in 2006 watching MSNBC will actually make you dumber than the national average.

When I was 11, I made a donation (it was like a cash on delivery type) to PBS during one of their telethons. I never paid, but you would have thought I had stiffed a Gambino loanshark the way they hounded me. Atleast two calls a day and a couple of reminders a week. The "donation" was for $20.

Of course, after seeing the benefit of radio, the expectation was that new advertisers would start paying full freight.
However, on the topic of radio and ads, did you ever notice the advertisement of "sales jobs" at radio stations? They'd usually advertise on air that they were hiring qualified "outside sales" people. High turnover in telemarketing/d2d-btb, I guess, but the humor was radio stations would run ads pointing out how radio was the superior marketing method, and then run an ad for their own business (the radio station) looking for people to use an entirely different type of ad stream. The irony was indescribable once noticed.

This is why I stopped giving to public radio. It's a shame really. My local station has some great programs with music that you just don't hear anywhere else. But as long as even one penny goes to support NPR, I've had to stop giving.

I know that the self defense laws apply to situations like this, however there needs to be a directly worded law that addresses automobile operators trapped by civil unrest where their lives are threatened that add additional protections for the drivers to escape dangerous situations by driving through/over aggressive attackers.
Common law is still developing. Saw an article the other day. Basically if they are just in front of you car yelling, nothing you can do. Pounding on your hood and blocking you is not lethal force you can defend against. But, the second you see someone else get hurt, the second they try to get in your car, second a gun is pointed at you, the second a molotov cocktail appears, you can reasonably defend yourself.
But, you know if such official guidelines existed the protestors would follow them to a tee saying "I'm not threatening you." same way a bully would say "I'm not touching you."
Should be as simple as them touching your car in an agitated state while blocking a roadway illegally.
When I say “illegally blocking a roadway” I mean they do not possess a permit to gather there.
As an aside, I think it should be illegal for municipalities to issue permits to protesters to block interstate roadways. Taxpayers depend on that commerce and it is theft to deprive them of free usage thereof.
