We can all thank Germany circa WW1 for privately sending the previously excommunicated Lenin from Switzerland to Russia via unmarked railcar to foment revolution, as he had been living in poverty with his family next to a fucking sausage factory after Russia kicked him out for instigating this type of shit uprising.

The galaxy brains in German high command thought that sending Lenin back to Russia to try and topple the monarchy would help rid them of one front of their two-front war, and while they were right (Russia shortly folded like a flan left in the cupboard), the Russian troops still on the front then started spreading communism to the German troops, saying we can all be one mankind stop shooting and come on over for world peace comrade.

While WW1 was truly screwed up regarding nationalism and treaties from the outset, Germany started freaking out when the 'mind-worm' of communism started hitting their ranks as back-draft.
