Apple is using it's platform to control speech. So many developers have been abused by them, I'm very surprised there hasn't been a class action or anti-trust lawsuit yet. There needs to be a bill separating marketplaces from the underlying hardware.
Apple needs to lose their iron grip on what apps are allowed or not. If a .win app existed or is in development there’s not a good chance it’d be approved right now. Same thing for Ruqqus or any other free-speech platform. I believe if Apple was unable to ban apps except for illegal content (which includes viruses, phishing, copyright infringement, etc.) which all US companies need to remove anyway, platforms such as Reddit / Twitter would have fallen in popularity long ago. Being able to have an app has put them at such an advantage in terms of exposure and convenience. Web apps are a nice stop gap but they don’t have push notifications or as swanky UIs.
If there's a law separating software from hardware or specifically marketplaces from OS + hardware, the phone becomes more like a digital mall. Right now I believe the App Store in itself is an anti-competitive practice. We need a revolution in digital legislation that protects consumers against the predatory practices of Big Tech. We're paying insane amounts for devices we ultimately have very little control over. They take all the advantage.
My BlackBerry Passport is legitimately the best phone I have ever owned. A swollen battery meant I had to dispose of it, but I still got my trusty old Z10.
Later that evening Matze shared the contents of the conversation with a number of congressional lawmakers. Within 48 hours of that dinner meeting, the notice was removed from the account.
I don't use social media but I signed up for Parler to show my support. I'll probably never log in again. Trump could crush Apple and Twitter by jumping over or at least posting to Parler first then an hour later copied over to Twitter. Every stock trader will sign up within 30 seconds of Trump doing this.
I was going to save up to buy a new iPhone Pro $1500 model but I diverted to another Android model so I can install an open source non-Google Android version on after seeing Apple censor the Apple Store version of Telegram. Going to DeepinOS (beautiful but developed by CY-NA) so I'll probably end up on Ubuntu DDE distro which includes the beautiful desktop experience but it's not Chinese developed. Deepin Desktop Environment is almost on par with macOS: https://youtu.be/C6jw0zKBdzg
I won't be buying another Apple product because there is no way to side load the direct version of Telegram on iOS and you can only use the app store version which has certain Telegram channels blocked but if you get the Android or macOS version directly from the Telegram site it's all uncensored.
We need to migrate to Linux. I no longer trust Windows anymore either. The huge NSA data center and storage facility in Utah was built right about the same time as Windows 10 being launched.
Cloud file sync services are also out as they can scan and delete files they don't like, sliently. Get a Synology NAS that has its own file sync software and drop Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive.
Backup your mail with MailStore Home Free, it's the best mail archiving software available for free (it is really good) unfortunately it only runs on windows so either run it on an old PC or a virtual machine atop Linux or maybe with WINE.
Just live with open source software. I really think this is the year it's possible. You just have to wean yourself off what your used too. Don't recommend installing ANY Facebook app just use the web version if you need to check Facebook that badly.
I actually have a Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit (barely ever use that anymore and I sure as hell don't post anything helpful on there anymore) Jail plugins called Google Container, Facebook Container, and so on so they can't capture my external site traffic through Google Ads or Facebook pixel. Check them out in the Firefox Add-ons section.
Maps.me vs Google Maps.
KeePassXC or BitWarden vs syncing your passwords in Chrome with Google.
Gab or VK.com verses Facebook.
Brave and Firefox vs Chrome.
Davinchi Resolve Free for Linux vs iMovie.
Run a very through ad blocker to starve the media of ad revenue and only whitelist right-think sites.
Pirated all the media you can, throw your money elsewhere to alt tech like a Gab Pro subscription. Cancel your TV, newspaper, and magazine subscriptions. Maybe invest in a pirate Android TV box so you can get all the channels for reeeeeeeeee!
Buy things used off Craigslist or eBay before buying new to slow the money train to China.
That’s an idea but the majority of users are not going to do this. They will just buy a phone and not do work around. So the message will not widely get out. I do hope they institute legislation to keep big tech accountable. I just don’t see any other way for the message to reach the masses
I am in the middle of a move but when I get settled I am going to do a write up on how I transitioned away from big tech. Not everybody can but my experience will be out there for those who seek the knowledge.
Ooooof course they did. "If you don't like Twitter's rules, make your own Twitter!"
Apple and Google are the gatekeepers for all of social media, and should be our targets.
Nice to read that they folded but between stuff like this and closing their stores in conservative states, Apple is definitely pushing a political agenda...

Yes.
Gab has two apps for Android and apple. You can install them without the shitty Apple or Google stores. Parker and others need to go the same route.
Here:

You could always sidload android apps:

Actually they can with OneSignal.com or if the mods are good enough use the open source version available on GitHub.
*it's monopoly
I miss my blackberry.

What a surprise, huh?
Good on them for carrying a big stick

Please this! Just a small shift is all it takes

GOOD LUCK PEDES!
Don't forget to delete all your data then burn down Chrome and use Brave for Linux or Firefox with Ublock Origin set on overkill.

Probably could go with a game streaming service like Shadow if you like games. I use GFN currently. Waiting for my account to activate on Shadow.
They kicked off InfoWars app, and all the fake conservative pussy cucks said nothing. We stand up for all speech, or we let Timmy Apple be a tyrant.
This seems like a direct admission that they are a publisher and not a platform.

Let them run all their customers off.
What is Parler?
Like twitter without left wing censorship
June 2019
Good point, I hadn't noticed!
"we have a breaking news bombshell.."
retarded writer and I stopped reading that shit article there. ffs learn to write
Let me guess... DAN BONGINO who is part owner of the company? Lol, Good luck with that.
Does anyone remember the game Phone Story?
And that is why i wont use Parler.
Sorry - maybe I'm missing something, but why are you taking this out on Parler?
The same reason I don't use Twitter.
They are complicit in censorship, either bending the knee to the phone gods, or actively doing it to their members.
Something like Gab is a better alternative, IMO.
Parler didn't comply...
Oh. I thought the whole discussion was centered around them complying since they're still available on the AppStore.
my bad pedes.
