Not just term limits... which I agree with... 12 years in congress TOTAL should be the limit.

But also, decentralization of power. Taxes and administration should be much more local than it is. We continue to centralize, and that is part of the problem. If California wants universal health care, so be it. Let them have it. Get the feds out of it... and education... and many other things.

(edit) - having read Cruz's bill, I'm okay with it, but I think the time period is too long. You could still have senators with 18 years in Congress. Too long. Make it 12 total. And repeal the 17th amendment so that states appoint the Senators... make state elections matter more.

Seventeenth amendment was a great move by the globalists.

I would love to learn more about this. Thanks for the heads-up!

Seventeenth Amendment, amendment (1913) to the Constitution of the United States that provided for the direct election of U.S. senators by the voters of the states. It altered the electoral mechanism established in Article I, Section 3, of the Constitution, which had provided for the appointment of senators by the state legislatures. Adopted in the Progressive era of democratic political reform, the amendment reflected popular dissatisfaction with the corruption and inefficiency that had come to characterize the legislative election of U.S. senators in many states.

But yeah, globalists and greedy, power-hungry people have been attacking the Constitution before the ink was even dry. It's not a new phenomenon.

Exactly! People from all walks were supposed to 'volunteer' or do their duty, go to Congress a few times per year, make some improvements, then go home to their own States.

They were supposed to go back to their regular jobs like a lawyer, doctor, farmer, whatever. Being a politician was NOT supposed to be their career!

What bothers me, is that over the years, there has been a slow creep (and subsequent loss of sovereignty) into the Constitution.

And at this point, I don't know if we could get enough States to vote for ANY sort of amendment, much less one that LIMITS the power of the government, term limits, pay, etc. etc.

If only 10% of voters vowed to never vote for an incumbent again and followed through, legislation would not be required.

I don't see how term limits fixes anything

Wouldn't that just mean they have less time to loot the system and would act even more insane since they don't have to worry about more re-elections?

175,000 * 30 = 5,250,000.

With good investments it is easy to be a multimillionaire on that salary.

FreeBased1 1 point ago +1 / -0

"Good Investments" often equals insider knowledge.

And we're not talking about a person with no monthly expenditures here, we're talking congressmen/women who have net worths of $50 million, $100 million and more.

That's some really good investing! ;)

Yeah, have to qualify it though. After 30 years, retiring with a few million is not unreasonable or indicative of corruption.

50 million plus, yeah probably an issue.

Seems a lot of GOP leaders are frozen in fear.

DNC leadership has made it clear they are going after everyone who did not submit to them if the Dems/CCP manage to steal 2020.

No, they are also deep state. Deep state Republicans are the easiest to get rid of as they can be primaried out. With 97% of Republicans backing Trump it is better they sit and do nothing than oppose him and get primaried out.

The same shit happened in Pennsylvania. The governors with the strictest lockdowns were intentionally putting covid positive patients into the most vulnerable places, then using those deaths to justify lockdowns of small businesses, schools, and people who are not vulnerable. The PA health secretary was ordering covid infected people into nursing homes while pulling her 95 year old grandmother out of an assisted living facility at the same time. The ONLY reason it wasnt a huge scandal is because Wolf is a democrat and the health secretary is a transgender, and you're not allowed to criticize them or you're a bigot. Even if they're killing people and saving their own relatives from their own policies.

It's always been the uniparty, that's why we elected Trump

Sum_devil 1 point ago +2 / -1

The left has the trump card, which is to have the media call you racist and come after you like a Scientology mob and terrorize you. So they bow down because everyone is afraid of these fuckers.

As far as being primaried out, it's happened plenty of times and needs to happen more. I'm trying to be optimistic here within the established framework of our democracy in spite of the obvious corruption. That said, I believe open hostility is very possible in the United States. I don't know what threshold has to be crossed to get to that point after all we have seen. But again, stay optimistic - it drives these fuckers crazy. It isn't over yet and they have not won.

I'm 100% with you on Gettysburg except I'd add that that's going to happen all over the place. I don't think we've seen anything yet. These communist animals would take down the Washington Monument and kick over every headstone in Arlington National Cemetery if they could.

If were talking about NYS politics i can answer this one (I work for the NYS legislature). The problem here is there are not enough Republicans in the legislature to oppose Cuomo. Even if they wanted to, they cant. We have the some great Republican such as Assemblyman Andy Goodell, who will fight the Dems non stop. But there's just to few of us.
