It was never about taking back the schools. This is about taking back education. The government should not be involved in education - period. Let churches, charities, and communities come together to educate those who do not have a means to do so - and no, I'm not talking about giving people an outlet to own the latest iPhone or new car. Raising and educating children might cause you to leave your comforts, sacrifice worldly pleasures, and find something much more valuable.
I'm not "speaking for myself" - I'm speaking about what the actual fucking reality in this country has been. A person would have to be delusional to believe that hasn't been the reality.
I feel ya. My daughter who is going into 11th grade has picked up on this. It's a damn daily battle. It sure doesnt help that I am right outside Minneapolis. I grew up in the neighborhood where this garbage started.
The education system should have forcibly been dismantled years ago.
The education system should have forcibly been dismantled years ago.
So start dismantling it. I don't think that having every single family set up their own home school is a practical solution (outrageously expensive to have that many parents out of the workforce, and in the aggregate, would make conservative/libertarian families economically, and thus politically weak). And traditional private schools are too expensive for most families who are also being forced to financially support public schools (also many private schools aren't much better than public schools when it comes to pushing leftist ideology).
But there's no reason several like-minded families can't band together and have one of them run a home school for all the kids, with one parent as primary instructor/supervisor, and other parents pitching in financially to compensate for that parent being out of the workforce. Other parents with flexible work schedules could also pitch in by covering on days that the primary instructor parent needs to take off. Some state prohibit this, allowing only a child's parent/guardian or someone holding a state teaching license to homeschool, but those laws need to be defied and challenged aggressively.
I'm 33 and I think I'm one of the only conservatives my age at work. We have a bunch of people 1-3 years removed from college and they are the most vile leftists I've ever known. And yes, about half of them are on Xanax or some other anti anxiety medication.
Jeez, when I was a kid, we had "Schoolhouse Rock" which taught us the American Civics basics. I can still remember the preamble to our constitution thanks to that song.
"We the people, in order to form a less perfect union, deny justice to insure domestic instability..... provide for those who take offence, enslave the poor with endless welfare and take away our security, for ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution..... just to see you rip it up and make us... roll in our graves."
My kid’s catholic school in England emailed us a colourful booklet - all about white privilege and how to explain it to your kid (my kid is only preschool!)
The governors of the school will get an earful from me when the schools resume, I’m not one for passive aggressive strongly-worded emails
The growth in the power of leftist Teachers Unions has poisoned and decimated education in this country, and by extension is poisoning the country itself.
Get them out of there.
Yeah, OP, where the fuck do you live?
MOVE!!!
Unless OP is the author of this article in the Federalist, there's no reason to think OP currently has a child in this public school system.
Most of the comments are about retreating instead of taking back the schools. Sad!

This describes the problem in a nutshell. Our primary responses to the radical Left for the last 30 years have been:
Dismiss, belittle, ridicule the seriousness of the problem.
Whenever the problem becomes undeniably serious, then cede ground and retreat and hide from it for as long as possible.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

They enjoy turning children against parents.

Notice that a majority of the “protestors” are late teen, young adults. They are truly brainwashed into thinking they are oppressed.

Almost always on Xanax and depression medicine.
They are a prime example of SSRI danfers.

They aren't oppressed at all. I guess schools don't teach vocabulary anymore.

Or something like that.
Homeschool. You may think you can't do it, but you can!
Our family is converting this year!
Good for you and your family!
Why would u continue to have them "educated" by communists?
Oh look, public schools are gonna get kids killed.
Breakdown of society 101

this is the left end game. we have already won. they are throwing a fit. their plans are bad and weak because they are dumb.
we will continue to ride out this storm and stay the course.
They have homeschooling that is all online now. You got this b
We need school voucher funding for school choice, now...
Don't forget they also taught them about transvestites and muslim prayers.
It's not protest. It's insurrection, and traitors swing.

I would love to see an exodus of families withdrawing their kids from these indoctrination farms.
