All my scrap silver coins have come from estate auctions. I have hundreds if not thousands of silver coins from auctions. Hey, when they're giving away 10 Morgan's for $120, it's not difficult to stand there and buy every lot. Lol!

Auctions are hit or miss, so you have to attend many of them. Some days people are paying more than retail for used stuff, other days, they're practically giving stuff away. Obviously, I like the latter. Especially when it's mostly women interested in knickknacks, while all the tools, coins and guy stuff is overlooked. Not every buyer can be at every auction.

how do you find good auctions? I've always been interested, but never looked into it.

I use a site called auctionzip.com what I do is search all listed auctions within a radius of 50 miles. The auctioneers around me are pretty good at listing their auctions on there, it may be different near you. I that case, just do a web search for auctioneers near you and check in on their upcoming auctions. After some time going to auctions, you'll pickup on auctioneer and crowd nuances, which will help narrow your field. Some auctioneers will try and drain every penny from an auction. This is good for the seller and the auctioneer, but it makes for a horribly boring auction with few deals. Other auctioneers will assemble so much stuff that they have no choice but to move along quickly, so you get better deals. It's just something you will have to commit some time toward studying. Over the years, I've come up with my preferred auctioneers and quit chasing every auction. Pretty much I've limited auctions to Sauturdays and occasionally Sundays, unless there's something too good happening on a Wednesday. Usually during the week you'll find the business auctions and on the weekends you'll find the estate auctions. We've done very well buying inventory and reselling it on ebay, but we've also done equally well reselling collections from estates. Of course, you will always find something you just have to have for yourself. Lol!
