Another woke sport gone.

Although Nascar has been going down the shitter for the past two decades.

It just ripped the band aid off. Maybe there really are 10 million purple hair gender fluid millennials waiting to go to NASCAR races and they just needed a kick in the ass to find them.

You know, racing cars could have been one of the most gender-equal sports if they didn't do all that nonsense.

Unlike muscle-only sports like basketball where a good national level high school teams with their 6 foot 6 boys will beat the USA woman national team any day, there are no hard limits to why the best woman driver can't drive better than man. But now they try their hardest to push normal people from them.

Sorry, but unfortunately racing a car is physically demanding. How many women have won a Formula 1 or NASCAR race despite it being open to them for decades?

hai_Priesty 12 points ago +16 / -4

I'm not saying that woman needs to even remotely be 50% of those racing champions to say "Equality". I'm saying that they "have a chance". It's like woman "having a chance" in the best forces in the army (or be a President in USA if she's good even though there isn't one so far), but I'm not surprised if they make up of <5% of the best.

In most other sports, woman sparring against man is a physical impossibility. If you let man and woman box together, you're endangering woman. In contrast, NASCAR competition being a "physical possibility" was what I meant.

Side point : When any rare woman manages to get near the top of NASCAR I wager she easily make more money than a "regular" champion with all her sponsorships and ads, making her endeavour worthwhile without any "equality" help.

Formula 1 is probably 10 times more physically demanding on neck muscles than NASCAR.

4
Warskullx 4 points ago +7 / -3

It is physically demanding, but it is demanding in a way women have a chance. It is an endurance sport.

13
bangbus 13 points ago +15 / -2

Driving a race car is incredibly physically demanding. Even with power steering it still favors someone with a strong neck, forearms and shoulders.

hai_Priesty 7 points ago +11 / -4

Acknowledged, but unlike American football (14 year old muscular boys can crush the bones of woman player from National Team in a slam) or Volleyball (Yeah right, your highest point of reach when you jump is 60cm less than guys), the Race Car is not a hard limit where it'd be impossible to beat a guy. Similar as archery.

If parents want to teach their girls true equality, "overcoming odds" like this should be a essential if racing is her dream.

Women will never be able to compete with men in Nascar. The difference in competition between the TWO sexes is not just physical, Chess is the best example of this.

Look up the top ranked Chess players in the world, you need to scroll very far down before you see a females name. There are no "mens only" chess tournaments, women can enter every tournament that a man can. However there are "women only" tournaments that men are banned from.

Women can't even compete with men in board games at the top level, let alone nascar.

Well, the brain. But other than that yeah.

Maybe NASCAR women have a chance (because honestly the g's in those turns are probably not extreme).

But there are other motor sports where neck strength is ridiculously important and it takes a lot of strength.

Drag racing seems to be a good match for women, looking at Ashley Force.

Shooting sports are probably the very best to give women a chance.

Equestrian sports and shooting sports are the best. Women still have a physical disadvantage vs. men, but there is a mental aspect that puts them on a more even playing field. Especially equestrian sports (which are tough sports, the injuries can be catastrophic -- not for sissies). Women actually do better in those fields and compete with men. There's an extreme amount of body control and mental/emotional work that has to be learned, and women are very capable of competing against men because learning it is pretty much up to the individual. The trick is to not resort to trying to physically over-power, and women tend to have a better start as they don't need to unlearn that (although, in the last decade or so, I have seen problems with this: young women thinking they can ride very physically and aggressively...it ruins their talents and stunts their abilities). Yes, all my children shoot and ride; sometimes they do both at the same time! It's what we call "family fun time".

Indycar is probably the hardest with some brutal tracks and no power steering, and yet Legge and the not-top-tier Patrick managed to make a fair go of it.

Motorsports driver careers are full of money and BS so it’s not a true meritocracy but top talent draws resources to it.

I'm under the impression that conservatives are terrible boycotters but formidable when it comes to support spending in causes we believe in. Leftists are the exact opposite.

12
bangbus 12 points ago +12 / -0

No, liberals aren’t even the fucking customers of who they threaten to boycott. They’re just loud as shit on Twitter. Everyone needs to get rid of cable because the annuity these companies have from cable bills is their lifeblood and I’d wager conservatives outweigh liberals in cable subscriptions by like 5-1.

11
Philhelm 11 points ago +12 / -1

It's harder for us to boycott when leftists control the majority of our businesses and institutions.

Huge mistake for NASCAR. They are already struggling with attendance problems. To go so woke when your fanbase is probably the reddest segment of the American population?

This won't be like the NFL. They're practically done for. No normies that I know of even have a passing interest in NASCAR.

I usually go to three races a year. Not any more.

I think this is it, fucking advertising/fake news world - the onion movie comes to mind. More advertising then news or sports at this point.

3
sunnyingreenfield 3 points ago +4 / -1

I would agree, however, I said very much the same about "woke" country singers/bands

9
NuclearDreams 9 points ago +9 / -0

There are a lot of people who are apolitical who love country music though. Also a lot of bands managed to make the "migration" to a more pop-oriented audience by slightly altering their music. That's why, as someone who loves 90s country, I cant stand modern country music.

2
CharlesHalloway 2 points ago +2 / -0

you need the quotes around country not woke.

a lot of those woke people aren't country. it's just pop Nashville wants everyone to think is country.

2
sunnyingreenfield 2 points ago +2 / -0

Lol, I debated quotes around both!

23
Southern_Belle 23 points ago +23 / -0

I'm a woman.

Of mixed race.

I think nascar's "Drive for Diversity" is bullshit.

I like my nascar full of racing fuel, adrenaline, patriotism, and testosterone.

Quit kowtowing to every whiny POS.

Bubba was great until he decided to stop being American and start being black.

FutureMan 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm still trying to understand why the fact that women just really aren't into machines as a general rule, is such a controversial issue.

1
TenFeetHigher 1 point ago +1 / -0

Because it would stand as a contrary example to the left narrative of men and women being being biologically equal.

2
bangbus 2 points ago +3 / -1

Ol #42 was the only good driver to go through that program and he’s probably permabanned now. He was the only one with top level talent and his parents weren’t rich. The drivers all being second or third generation NASCAR royalty or otherwise rich is a big reason the sport is taking a shit.

No Winston leaving and the start of the chase started the decline. 2001-2003 especially 01 were fun years.
