I bet if a handful of officers showed up and tried to enter, explained what they were there for, and didn't start the encounter with their guns out, they'd have gotten a different reaction.

Maybe if they'd done that, the protestors would have attacked them. I have no way of knowing, and I understand why the officers wouldn't want to risk it, but this really feels like a microcosm of the whole issue. A situation escalates, often by the police, and then the police refuse to do anything to de-escalate, resulting in a bad outcome for everyone.

This comment is pure cancer. 1st part is nonsense. Then he starts using logic and some common sense, then falls back on blaming the police for escalating when called to some fucking gangland gunfight.

Highlights mine.

lol. This is what they should be telling the black community, not the police. What I want to know is in a country of 350 million how many people are killed by police after cooperating and trying to de-escalate (rather than escalate) the situation?

Even Floyd escalated repeatedly and didn't cooperate, climbing out of the police car etc. The gaslighting is unbelievable. "POLICE are the ones that need to de-escalate"... Yeah ok give me a break. As usual the left accuses you of doing what they are guilty of.
