I grew up in Seattle and live in Vegas now. The first time I was in Vegas it was not even the hot part of the year and I remember going from the hotel to the rental car and thinking I was going to die. I fucking hated it.
Fast forward 20 years. I just went outside (3am) and it is probably 95 degrees. It feels great. You acclimatize. I still miss the variable weather of Seattle and wish it rained more here, but cannot deny how much I like knowing every day is going to be nice. Once you acclimatize it is only hot for a couple months and only when the sun is beating down. At night it is pleasant. It is also quite chilly in the winter.
The only thing I don't like about it here is the lack of trees. Growing up in forestland makes it hard for me to tolerate the desert scenery but it will do for now.
It's a desert. Yeah, it's hot, but it's not that all-encompassing mugginess you get on the coast. Once you get used to it the dryness is bizarrely liberating. Dry heat is very different. Stay hydrated and use sunscreen. You'll be fine.

On top of that, people in finance and applied economics do tend to be more socially liberal than your average conservative but are not nearly as socially liberal as your average progressive today. Not to mention these people are usually hardcore against Marxism and are pretty critical of welfare or socialism style policies - they’re literally in the business of understanding investing and trade. Of the employees that do choose to relocate, you’re basically going to see a small uptick in people that believe in classical liberalism/libertarians - and they will very likely vote red given that the left has abandoned classical liberalism for socialism.

I grew up in Seattle and live in Vegas now. The first time I was in Vegas it was not even the hot part of the year and I remember going from the hotel to the rental car and thinking I was going to die. I fucking hated it.
Fast forward 20 years. I just went outside (3am) and it is probably 95 degrees. It feels great. You acclimatize. I still miss the variable weather of Seattle and wish it rained more here, but cannot deny how much I like knowing every day is going to be nice. Once you acclimatize it is only hot for a couple months and only when the sun is beating down. At night it is pleasant. It is also quite chilly in the winter.
The only thing I don't like about it here is the lack of trees. Growing up in forestland makes it hard for me to tolerate the desert scenery but it will do for now.

It's a desert. Yeah, it's hot, but it's not that all-encompassing mugginess you get on the coast. Once you get used to it the dryness is bizarrely liberating. Dry heat is very different. Stay hydrated and use sunscreen. You'll be fine.

Normally I’d be worried that would bring liberal flight to Arizona and give them another state to destroy (and later be baffled as to why the area has turned into a turd), but a financed based firm is likely bringing conservatives (or at the very worst, moderates) to the area. These are people that embrace ideas like free market and oppose things like welfare - they literally work in the field of investing and finance.
