Reality is too complex for us to comprehend as it is in it's entirety. All our understanding of reality is always a reduced conceptual model of how it works.

A model can always be tested for validity: a working model will accurately predict the future.

So you don't actually understand the objective reality behind the workings of the mind of another person, but your conceptual model tells you that if you slap your erect penis across the face of an ex-convict biker, he will do something very painful to your person. That same conceptual model tells you that a horny woman who wants you might well enjoy the experience, depending.

This model needs to be constantly updated and corrected. Every time anything unexpected happens, this is reality telling you that your model sucks because it failed to predict the expected outcome.

An ideology like communism is a predefined model that explains all or part of reality as a fixed recipe. Since this ideological model is a fixed Truth, it cannot be corrected without changing the ideology, which cannot really be done. And so anytime it fails, which it will all the time because reality is unimaginably complex, the error is ignored or explained away, leading to an ever growing cascade of failures that can never be corrected.
