Reality is many of them will use real data when requesting and will find themselves getting regular communication from Brad and Donald.

Why should I presume people doing this won't apply such tactics to voting when it comes around? I'm not going to accuse them of it before it happens or there is proof of planning, but I think I have every reason to worry about it.
The campaign won't charge money for these events because they are essentially collecting voter's information for free. All the entries are inserted to a database and added to the mail list. These calls to sign up do nothing but help the campaign enrich their data collection.
Also it won't hurt attendance, it's first come first served anyway.
