I mistrusted pit bulls for a long time, but my cousin raised one who was as well-mannered and predictable as my dogs, and it changed my mind. I've also been around Dobermen my entire life and owned them for 25 years and only ever had one (my male) put his teeth on me (after he'd shown his teeth to my wife and I was explaining to him how I could kill him and have a new dog by the end of the week. My fault/his regret).

Honestly, most people shouldn't have big dogs; it's not the dogs' problem, it's that the people themselves are intemperate and undisciplined, and the dogs don't get properly trained or socialized. Yeah that's true.. it's sad but some dogs really do just need to be put down. I've tried to rehabilitate dogs that had a hard life and it's really hard and sometimes impossible. Some wounds run too deep and it's not safe to have a dog that can be triggered by anything in society/around kids. I have had putbulls and they are great dogs just like any other dog. Very sweet and laid back. There are just a disproportionate amount being over-bred and unsocialized. People just need to stop with the "not all pitbulls" mentality because it causes families to ignore red flags because they're scared of people judging them for not wanting a certain breed.
