They ignored their core fan base trying to get a bigger profile. They moved races from the traditional tracks they'd raced at for years to bigger, newer tracks in new markets. They changed all the cars to look and race the same. They fiddled with the points system, adding stages to races and creating a gimmicky "playoff" at the end of the season. They've lost 50 percent of their viewers from the peak in 2005 (https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/325850).
Now they think appealing to the woke crowd will win new fans. Good luck with that.

These morons are listening to college kids that have never watched a single NASCAR race and think the concept of racing is stupid. They come up with bad marketing ideas that they put in front of people who are unemployed and lacking in anything productive to do - and they assume these people are a typical sample audience for NASCAR fans.
But do they ask NASCAR fans? No. Of course not. Those people are Nazis that probably voted for Trump.

Zero interest in NA”S”CAR and their cars that have nothing in common with the “stock” cars off of which they’re supposedly based. The use of caution flags for phantom “debris” in an effort to make it more exciting certainly didn’t help grow their audience.
I honestly don’t know what their end-game was with this “wokeness,” but it will only further shrink their fanbase.
