It seems like big tech is in every part of my life (which has been their plan all along I think). I want to free myself technologically speaking. Phone is a Google, service is T-Mobile. Browser is chrome. Etc on and on ad nauseum.

What are good recs for tech stuff that 1) Allows me to still live a somewhat connected life and 2) Prioritizes my safety and privacy?

Instead of Google as search engine, Use DuckDuckGo

I use ddg usually. Google for tech/work

When I said not sure what to do about Google, I meant the Google phone, android OS etc.

Haha yes, whenever I can. But I live in a different state than my family, and I'm required to be online often for work (especially now)

I had the same interest and came across an ANTIFA document that references sources to keep a low digital profile. Digital Security in a Box: Tools and Tactics AND Digital Security Tips for Protestors AND How to Trump Proof your Electronic Communications AND Your Phone is a Cop: An OPSEC Primer AND Preventing Online Doxxing There is a lot of good information in these. (IMO)
