My friend one time had a psx game we couldn’t get to work at all. It was scratched all to shit and wouldn’t read anymore. One day he got pissed at it threw it in a sink threw cologne, dishwashing soap, shaving cream...spit on it, and some other shit I don’t even remember. Basically everything he could do to permanently fuck it up. Rinsed it off threw it in the PlayStation and it worked I shit you not. We called it the cleansing, did it on several games.
Disclaimer - would not recommend doing this but it worked for several games for whatever weird fucking reason.

I'll just come out say it, that NES system deserved it. Sega had always been the one pushing gaming forward and they never got the credit they deserved. Sega is that weird exception where the better product doesn't succeed the way it should.
To this the day the NES is on such a pedestal even its successor the Super NES is underappreciated. Case in point the SNES mini came out with 2 controllers and unanimously better games for only $20 more, and it didn't resell even half as well. I was able to sell NES classics for upwards of $300 whereas my highest selling SNES was $140. And the SNES mini has games on it that cart only sell for more than $80
Don't get me started on Genesis mini, near perfect emulation and a great game list, yet it sold miserably and has trouble moving even at $40.

Kudos to Sega for pushing things forward when Nintendo was dragging their feet with innovation, but the NES has some fantastic games on it - so many beloved franchises got their start on the NES. When it comes to game consoles, the better products doesn't always come down to specs, it's all about the library.
Among pre-SNES era games on the genesis, 1989 - 1991, there's maybe a dozen games that I think are worth playing on the Genesis, most of them being from 1991. Looking at the same time period for NES releases, there's at least 3 times that amount, and that's not even including pre-1988 games. And some of these games, there's just no contest when comparing them with the early Genesis tittles. Megaman 2/3, Castlevania III, and Contra/Super C alone would make me an NES owner over a Genesis owner if it were 1990, and that's ignoring Nintendo developed games - Marios/Metroid/Zeldas/DKs/Punch Out
Sega did get shafted though, but they at least had their moment in the sun. TurboGrafx-16 - now they REALLY got overlooked despite pushing things forward, even more-so than Sega.

I bought Kirby 3 for over $100.
Silent hill 3 is pretty damn expensive for a PS2 game for some reason. Used is $180, new is $400 on Amazon right now.
Xenosaga ep 3 is also $180 or higher right now. Those Trump checks bumped some values
