He then gave the actual quote from NASCAR and it was basically "we don't know". In other words, the journalist put out a giant whopper of fake news.
i read the rest of the story. mr. weaver was very condescending in his tweet, implying he was sure of what he heard and was talking down to everybody for being retarded. look how he worded it:
"I shouldn't have to say this but NASCAR confirmed that it wasn't a garage pull down rope"
how he got from being so condescending to saying "whoops actually they didn't confirm anything and in fact said 'i dunno lol' and i'm so dumb that i somehow misconstrued that" is either that he's the dumbest person alive or NASCAR told him to delete his tweet and lie. and since he blocked the guy who was asking him from the article i'm inclined to believe that NASCAR told him to delete his tweet and lie.
