There's some major chinks in the design.

The loss of one producer only creates demand for the rest. All those peasants flushed away aren't major buyers of global economic products.

We are talking about hundreds of millions of dead, cities completely destroyed, and trillions and trillions of damage. Not to mention a complete collapse of the Global economy.

There's a bright and cheery opening paragraph. Holy smokes!

I'm getting tired of seeing this image, over and over again.

The first image, Google didn't have elevation mapping.

Since the first image, Google has now invested in radar mapping of the Earth's surface, and they overlay their satellite imagery onto the elevation data, which gives a false impression of the dam having moved.

It is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for the dam to have moved in such a way.

That's a much better explanation to debunk the photo than I've seen yet, thanks! I agree this level of deformation seems impossible

Holy shit, I always joke that an orbital kinetic strike on that damn would kill hundreds of minions and am laughed at

This story is exactly what I’m talking about

Hope they're ok, but if this thing goes, it would be a major disaster.

They ignored every safety recommendation from the west. The Chinese tradition of screwing anyone in any business deal doesn't go well with stupid old safety checks. Every western engineer said everything about the project was wrong from the beginning.

Is it near a seismic zone?

kekpower 2 points ago +2 / -0

Stupid question, but couldn’t they just let all the water out? Like over a period of a year or something, and then fix the dam?

That's fake news bro.
