I was out delivering toilet paper (newspapers) tonight with my wife on our ebikes. About halfway through our routes a cop pulled up beside us so we stopped and he rolled down his window to talk to us. He asked me where my helmet was (my wife was wearing hears) so I made up some dumb but believable excuse and the cop told me to make sure I get a helmet. We talked about the ebikes for a little bit and then just before he was getting ready to leave I stopped him and told him that I wanted to just tell him something.

I told him that I know the Police are catching a lot of crap and being made out to be the bad guys. Just last Friday there was an incident in my city where some cops went to get something to eat at Arby's and the people working there took a knee and told the cops that they would not serve them.

I continued on and told the cop that we appreciated and thanked him for his service to the community and that we stand with and support the police in these times of insanity.

Before President Trump was in office, these are things that I never in my wildest dreams ever imagined that I would be saying to a police officer.

But not only did I say them tonight. I sincerly meant them!!!

Thank you to all the police officers out there on TD_WIN.

Like this post to show the Police officers here how much they are appreciated!!!!

Just going to reply to my own post.....

Growing up my whole life (I'm 50 now) I always hated to the police because every time I would talk to them even for the simplest thing they always had this attitude and seemed to be looking down at me and like I was always the bad guy.

But over the past 3 years I've been delivering the newspapers and surprisingly I've had a heck of a lot of interactions with the police. I'm out all night so there has been a number of times where a neighbor will see me going to their neighbors house in the middle of the night and call the cops on me, Or just driving around in the middle of the night the cops will just pull me over to see what I'm doing.

But ;over this time, there has not been a single instance where a cop was rude to me or disrespected me in any way. As soon as they see what I am doing they are courtious and they have always been friendly with me.

I dont' know if they have trained differently in the past couple years or if their policy has changed or whatever, but over the past couple years my confrontations with the police are completely different from my past instances and I respect the police a lot more now for this reason.

Hmm, after reading the article seems OP got one of the facts wrong (they still served the cop, but he declined the food, and took the refund instead). Employees are being "dealt with."

Not sure how much good a random foreign phone call will do, but I admire your drive.

You can't trust the food, when the cook hates you.

What commie state do you live in where you are forced to wear a helmet while riding on a kids toy?

Yeah, those are usually local ordinances, not state laws

Most places have helmet laws which are mostly for kids to follow. If you are dumb enough as an adult to ride fast without a helmet then when you get concussed or a head fracture, that is on you. No paper route guy is riding fast, you don't want your bags to dump.

Also, OP, having a route with your wife? I have to admit, that is cool, based, and makes me a little jelly. Early morning bike ride. The quiet, the calm, the coolness of the air, seeing the world in a different frame than most see it, and sharing it with the one you love? yeah, jelly.

I don't think you know how to use that word or what it even means. When used out of context it isn't even insulting, it just makes you look like a fool. Ask any ER doctor or nurse about helmet laws.

helmet laws commie state

You wouldn't even rate as a shitposter, even ironically. Pathetic. https://imgur.com/8oNkCnB

It seems my comments have caused you some manner of controversy. As I said, if he gets in an accident it is on him, I did not condemn him for not wearing one nor ever stated that people who chose not to were in any way in the wrong. I simply stated the laws are there for a valid medical reason.

now look at you, in such a vitriolic state, all spittle, and insults. Bootlicker? Ha, someone is revealing his leftist side.

point out helmet laws exist for a valid reason

no condemnation for those adults who choose to not wear one

bootlicker

Congratulations, you played yourself.

It's in Canada. The thing is when they started making people wear helmets when riding bikes I always thought I was grandfathered in because I had been riding bikes my entire life without a helmet.

E-bikes are considered bicycles under the law so I don't konw why I would have to wear a motorcycle helmet to ride one.

The other thing too, is that the battery on my wife's bike needs to be replaced so it literally only goes 17 km/h. That's probably about 12 or 13 Miles per hour. If I fell off going that speed I dont' even know if I could even scrape my skin.

I'm getting her a new battery this coming week so we'll get up to between 30-35km/hour but still, you hardly need a helmet at that speed.

Yah I thank the Police whenever I see them because they are people too and I feel bad for how they are probably treated whenever they are in their uniform just trying to do their job right and make it home to their family. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ πŸ’™

Imagine being so brainwashed that you work a minimum wage job and when cops come in you actually get on your knee and refuse to serve them.

What a bunch of clownshoes.
