I know he is simply playing 4-D chess like always, but to actually get a true treason charge there is a very fucking high threshold you must pass.... including but not limited to us being in an actually time of war and working with a foreign power to carry out the treasonous act.... And that doesn't just mean that somewhere on the planet we are still in a conflict, that would mean the treasonous act, and the foreign help you were provided, were from the foreign power that we are currently at war with legitimately on paper.

So in other words, you can't be at war in Afghanistan and then there's a completely separate seditious act carried out with the help of Australia but that has absolutely nothing to do with the actual war we are fighting in Afghanistan, that would then not be the actual definition of treason... You would have to have received help and the treasonous act have something to do with the country we are at war with. I think a lot of people get the phrase at war confused with what it means to be genuinely at war but it requires that you actually have a declaration of war on paper... Of course we are "at war" right
now with most of the globe but that's not the same thing

It's more like sedition with whipped cream on top, if we're going to go by the actual textbook definitions.

I will always back Trump up no matter what, but considering how bad the media is going to railroad him for these statements, why not at least make a statement that has even a .001% chance of actually coming true?.... Hell, you would be better off calling it sedition and even that's going to be a stretch when it comes to actually proving it without a shadow of a doubt in the court of law...

knowing something happened a certain way and being able to prove it in court are two astronomically different things....

Edit -- the best example I can give right now as to just how difficult it is to get a charge like that actually stick -- that soldier that ratted out all of the information to the supposed skinheads who were going to supposedly give it to Al-Qaeda so that the troops could be ambushed..... Yeaaa.... They aren't even calling that a possible treason charge from everything I've read so far.... And it doesn't get more treasonous than that.
