Let's stop calling it peaceful. Sarcasm is not effective mockery.

The reporter, from which this thread is based, called them protesters.

Yes, but we called them "peaceful", from which my post was based.

Are you suggesting the religion of peace isn't peaceful either?

Do you understand the difference between recognizing sarcasm, and suggesting that sarcasm is not effective mockery?

Sarcasm is not effective mockery.

According to who? You're a genius.

According to who?

...Well, obviously I said it.

Whether sarcasm is effective or not depends on a recipient correctly interpreting something as sarcasm, and it’s not effective persuasion to rely on a subject to spend their own time and mental energy thinking about your message in order to understand it. (Why do you suppose Trump uses simple language? Why do you suppose Trump refers to himself in the third person? Why do you suppose Trump incorrectly capitalizes certain words? It’s to be understood more easily.) At worst, in the event someone should miss the sarcasm, then the message they receive is us perpetuating the left’s talking points - often verbatim, mind you - and giving credibility to the left because it becomes the only dominating narrative.

Effective mockery should be universally funny, obvious, and shame the intended target. Sarcasm has the built-in potential to do none of these. Sarcasm is “easier” and more widespread because it doesn’t take as much wit or energy to repeat a talking point, thinking it’s hilarious. The ease of sarcasm is also often hijacked by those in power to perpetuate a message, for example Ilhan Omar’s “some people did something”. Even TRUMP does it, with his “very stable genius” tweet.

You’re a genius

Thank you.
