My family is from Poland, they stayed when Poland’s borders were wiped off the map, stayed there thru both wars, stayed thru the nazi occupation, but had enough when communist rule was put into place by the USSR and had to come to America.
I’m not saying any of these historic events were not evil, or that any of them were okay. But it just goes to show how bad communism is that after all of the immense bullshit that Poland has been thru, it was communism that was the last straw. Family of 7 got rations for food, and 2kg of kielbasa was supposed to last them a week. That would probably feed one person for two days. If they weren’t farmers before communism, they probably would have starved off, and they only ate well because they hid their crops from the government.
