So I have friends in the sport, both drivers and crew members, and before COVID I'd go to many races a year and hang out in the garage area. Once in awhile we'd run into one of those r/nascar types you're referring to in the garage since they got passes through their work that happens to be a sponsor or whatever.
I don't like using this word because it is cringe most of the time, but fucking yikes. Looked and sounded like people straight out of a typical Reddit meetup. Most fans that I've seen meet my friends are normal, average people who carry on a nice short conversation, take a selfie, get an autograph, and go on with their day. Some of these redditors worshiped my friends like a deity while having zero social skills. Disturbing, really.
