Imagine a streamed tv service that offers all the tv shows/movies that have been banned by cancel culture. Imagine new movies/tv shows that just concentrate on great content and cater to us for a change, rather than trying to brainwash everyone... There is tremendous opportunity here.

Those are fair questions. You say it’s a waste of electricity, but compared to what? This is a de-centralized store of value. There’s never been anything like this outside of precious metals. Additionally, most of the cost is in mining the initial 21 million coins.
It’s not “funny money”. It’s secured cryptographically. You trust crypto enough to do payments over the internet right? This is not different.
There are various methods of recovery, but yes, in the end, if you lose certain details, you lose the money. That’s how you get the security though. If anybody could recover your funds without your key, it wouldn’t be very secure, would it?
If you are very concerned about it, you could keep the details on a piece of paper locked in a safe. It would be quite secure, and easier to transport than gold.
China is indeed a concern, but miners have an incentive to be honest. If they tried to cheat, the value of all their bitcoin would go to zero.
Bitcoin is not the end all. We’ll see how it evolves, but cryptocurrency is the future in any case.
Well, that leads to the other only issue I have, without doing some serious research - some of it pretty deep and technical, you can't tell which of the dozens of different cryptocurrencies are scams and which are real. If someone is putting time and money into promoting something, they probably have a stake in some sort of return. If it's not promoted, people aren't going to know about it - and it won't go anywhere. I love the concept of cryptocurrency, I really do, just - yeah - it's not basically intuitive.
Maybe in the near future but I wrote an article on crpyto currency a few years ago and honestly on small scales it works but as a full fledged currency it's a fucking logistical nightmare.
My GF is actually getting mad at me because I can't watch anything anymore. I, just, can't. It's all such bullshit. Nothing good coming out. I end up watching youtube shows about rebuilding 40 year old handheld video games, and polishing anvils. It's interesting, but I'd love to see something new out that I can actually handle watching, or that doesn't go completely to hell because it sells out after the first season.
Last night I learned how to make the perfect hamburger, what a Denver steak was, and how to smoke a whole cow. :/. I can make gunpowder from chicken poop, make a 4k projector from an old phone, and while aerogel looks really hard to make - I'm completely sure I might be able to do it. Also, I know about how much force it takes to explode old golf balls. And that new golf balls take a LOT more force for plastic deformation, because they're made a lot better. The list goes on and on and on. May as well add railroads and whatever else to the list. That show doesn't look bad, tbh.
That's not going to happen. You can't have two completely separate cultures divided down the middle of a country and expect it to survive. Something catastrophic will happen before that becomes the only option. We are at war here and only one side will win.
I'm just saying that before it gets to the point where we become that segregated, something else will happen that will nullify the need for it. I mean, if we build alternate social media platforms, that will work, but the financial platforms being divided, with two separate economies in a single county? No, that's not going to happen.
I actually think it can happen. We can just go around them. We don't need the left. There is no reason for us not to create great art and continue living our lives. They decided to exclude us, so we have to move on without them. It is already starting to happen with social media (this site for example). Guys like Mnuchin can get the banking up. There are all kinds of faith-based production companies that are growing.. It is slowly happening anyway.
