The heralded golf tournament, one of the four majors, needs to go back to its original name — the Augusta National Invitational. It became the Masters in 1939.

Um, Augusta is in Georgia. Georgia is racist. They had slaves in Georgia; literal SLAVES. How absolutely DARE they suggest they rename it to "Augusta National Invitational"?

Also, "National" is a dogwhistle for "nationalism" and Trump and RAAAAACISTS! We can't have that name.

Complete and utter insanity. Masters alludes to someone who has MASTERED a skill.

OMG.

I remember being about ten years old as a kid and seeing a "Masters" golf tourney commercial showing Jack Nickolaus, Gary Player and Arnold Palmer (you know, airing this weekend on CBS) and first thing that came to mind after seeing or hearing about it for the first time was "Wow, this is for the guys who have really MASTERED the game. This must be a big deal."

not

That must be in Georgia where slave masters who obviously played a lot of golf would sit in the clubhouse after hitting the links and play gin rummy for slaves.
