Can someone explain why one should conceal carry instead of open carry? My state allows open carry without a permit but conceal carry requires a permit so it seems simpler just to open carry. Everyone I know open carries yet almost all gun owners I watched or talked to online seem to prefer conceal carry.

The masks wouldn't do much since I have to open carry anyway due to lack of permit. Should I bother getting one?
