Remind me again what’s stopping us from labeling twitter as publishers?

SupremeAnger 23 points ago +23 / -0

At this rate? Nothing. Jack, and Twitter by extension, thinks nothing will happen. I don't want them to stop, not at all. I want twitter to keep shitting the bed harder and messier with each gut churning bowel voiding day. I have some puts on Twitter that are waiting for that final pucker blast to make me some sweet cheese.

Keep it up, jack!

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act is actually protecting them a lot.

Up until their luck runs out. Don't need to remove 230 to punish them, there's other ways.

Until it's changed--and it will be changed--either by Republicans or Democrats. Soon they'll start using their censor power against the wrong sort of democrats. The left always turns on its own. When that happens, Democrats will be leading the charge to destroy these "evil giant tech monopolies."

We will find out when Section 230 gets clarified. I'm not gonna panic. FCC is based.

How close up to the election is okay for them to censor? Hasn’t been fixed in 3.5 years, so what gives you confidence?

lion_streezus 12 points ago +12 / -0

It's not about how close to the election. It's about how the law is written now. Trump wrote an Executive Order about this very stuff, in which he asked the FCC to review the way the law is currently written in order to begin considering social media as a public forum and restore 1st Amendment protections.

We can't act like nothing is being done, but we should expect these asshole companies to keep being asshole companies for now because they are protected by this legal language specifically, and they know it:

(2)Civil liability

No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be held liable on account of—

(A)any action voluntarily taken in good faith to restrict access to or availability of material that the provider or user considers to be obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable, whether or not such material is constitutionally protected; or

(B)any action taken to enable or make available to information content providers or others the technical means to restrict access to material described in paragraph (1).[1]

And they are pissing their pants about Trump winning again, because it will solidify that EO and end what we've seen these past 4 years.

They aren’t acting scared to me. Brazen is how I would describe it. A violent mob was attempting to destroy the Andrew Jackson statue and Twitter censored the President of the United States warning to the mob that the law will be enforced. Jack should have been raided today.

I see it as Last Resorts. What do they have to lose at this point?

Could be Jim Baker setting them up for the fall in exchange for a lighter sentence.

Because they are machiavellian. They are willing to destroy their own business, ruin the way of life for all of their employees in order to effect their desired change. It is scary the dedication of these Marxists.

I don't think it'll end. I think they'll push even harder, which will result in one of two things happening:

  1. I know people think it's impossible and monolithic now, but sometimes monopolies do collapse under their own weight. And if Facebook and Twitter make big enough asses of themselves, people will be more open to an alternative. I feel old saying this, but so many tech giants that people thought would be here forever have come and gone away in the past 20 years. Remember how every business had an AOL keyword? Remember searching for sites on Yahoo? Remember movie trailers asking you to check their Myspace page? Google, Facebook, and Twitter are just the current iteration. They are big now because smartphone makers as early as the blackberry had their app added in by default. People are noticing the censorship and blatant double standards. If something new comes along and the time is right, I think people will be more likely to jump ship. TheDonald.win isn't really social media, but it is climbing up. Parler is looking like it has potential, and it seems some youtubers and other folks are getting attracted to Locals which lets people make their own "mini" social media. (Gab, IMO, had the problem of people not being angry enough yet to move en-masse, and thus only attracted jew conspiracy nuts.)

  2. Something will happen on the legal/legislative end. Either section 230 will be removed or treated differently than now (let's say, for example, somebody pushes the lawsuit angle using the "publisher" route), or the current social media giants will be classified as "utilities" and heavily regulated into neutrality.

They are currently legally protected and have no reason to operate otherwise until the law changes, which it will. Just be patient and trust the kek.

Well, and I think that's why we need sites like the one we're on right now.

I'm assuming it's this video since it's all I've seen of the stabbing: https://www.liveleak.com/view?t=ayxIn_1592683597

I believe it was a video of a stabbing by a peaceful protestor or something.

Jack openly said he reads satanic verses and he posted that 🍕 slice just to instigate.

There are no free and fair elections in America. Trump won due to a fluke.

3
JeremiahKassin 3 points ago +3 / -0

Agreed, but I believe he's going to fluke things up again.
