See, at some point in the early 1970s, democrats realized this whole "racism thing" wouldn't be a good look moving forward. So, they had a meeting one day with all the republicans in all levels of local, state and federal government from all 50 states and everyone agreed from that day forward the republican party, the party who freed the slaves and fought against Jim Crow laws, would take in any and all racists, and every single good guy republican would just switch sides and become a democrat....
Even typing that paragraph in jest, it absolutely flabbergasts me that people believe this garbage.
Yea, the "party switch" is one thing I will never understand. Obviously dems have a vested interest in people believing it, and sadly they actually do have stupid people who genuinely do. Democrats obviously want you to believe that because they come out looking like the good guys despite all the shitty things they have done in American history.
What I don't understand, and no leftist has ever been able to provide an answer for, is what do the Republicans get out of it? Why would the party that freed the slaves, passed the Civil Rights Act, and all that other great stuff suddenly decide they want to change their name to "Democrats" and take on all the bad baggage that goes with that name?
Agreed 100%. You'll never understand it because it simply never happened. Common sense tells us all as much. How do two parties switch names anyway? One at a time or both simultaneously and by agreement? Neither makes a lick of sense. One party can't do it on their own...because then everyone is from the same party. But let's imagine that one party unilaterally did. So then the other party, having been boarded as if by pirates, not only doesn't cry out in protest, but meekly decides to change its own name. To that of the pirates? Fucking preposterous!
Alternatively, the parties somehow "agreed" to swap names. The fuck? The Republicans, the party of civil rights and black congressmen, just "agrees" to take on the mantle of the Dems and their racist Ku Klux Klan. Because that sounds like a winning strategy...
Here's a crazy alternative notion. The parties simply never switched. More logical on every level, is it not? The racist party now (Dems) were the racist party then. Simple.
Precisely.
