I've been looking into that. I was looking into it before all of this because a lot of parents are unhappy with the league and some of the coaches. This is likely the route I'm going to take.. resign from the Town league and start my own private team and join one of the private leagues in the area.
I hope something works out, it's good that there is at least some private option to look into. It's sad that things are getting this bad and I'm hopeful we'll get back to a REAL normal sooner rather than later. We just had our first child recently, I'd like for him to grow up and play some sports but not with that sort of shit going on.

I'm not a scientist or child psychologist but have been thinking about this a lot lately. One of my buddies has a gay brother. We were chatting about nurture vs nature, and the brother was always "soft" and it wasn't surprising when he turned out gay.
So my buddy has never liked gays and is fine being called a bigot for it. When he found God he had more moral justification.
So we were going deep in to this over a few beers and I asked him why he loves his brother but would not go to his "wedding". We came to the conclusion that maybe some people are born gay--or maybe more accurately with tendencies. That doesn't matter since being gay is an affront to decency and God (paraphrasing him) and you can choose to not be gay, or at least to not act on those impulses.
Deep down, my buddy might lean one way just like his brother. They had a masculine father and were never raped, so it might just be the way it is and he has worked to shut it down and be a normal hetro dude.

Why do I think that this seven year old isn’t behind this push to join this soccer team? The child ‘decides’ that they are trans at age seven?, and his/her parents immediately want to throw the kid into a situation that will focus exclusively on their child’s gender differences? They will require all coaches to take diversity training, along with additional staff to support the child? This sounds more like political advocacy than an activity that would benefit the child. This child will have a difficult time as it is without being made into a trans poster child that will create this much disruption to a sport. Most kids at this age just want to belong, and not stand out. That’s a lot of stress to put a seven year old in addition to their identity confusion. Other children could also start to resent the extra attention and problems this creates. This child’s identity will be ‘the trans kid’ before he/she evens has a chance to develop a personality. They probably don’t care about this. They just want to force policy. But this will not benefit anyone in the end. Shame on the parents for pushing for this.
