I don't disagree with the Dalai Lama's main point of loving your neighbor but I think some people are mistaking "diversity" with "homogeneity".

I support true diversity, that is, a society in which our differences are respected and celebrated and protected. I don't want to live in a world full of only white people. I don't want to live in a world full of only Indian people. And above all, I don't want to live in a world that is the mathematical average of all currently living people. That's the opposite of diversity. And it's why nobody believes in diversity anymore. Because it almost always means homogeneity. Monoculture.

True diversity would resemble a vibrant world in which differences were permitted to exist, not because differences are bad, but because differences are good. It is exactly and only our differences that make us diverse. We can have differences, and still be kind to each other, and receive equal treatment under the law.

Leftism comes along like a belt sander and tries to scrape away the things that differentiate people and cultures. Always under the auspices of diversity, and always producing the opposite.
