It's probably being promoted because this specific light is most likely owned by China.

Hah, you know this isn't that far from truth. The LED market is completely dominated by China as they flagged it as a key industry several years ago and subsidize manufacturers and the development over there. The vast majority of UVC chips coming out are from China and their popularity is rising fast this year because of covid.

You know the solution touted by POTUS and the key patent is owned by an Indian American. I don't care what China has stolen or made. This on in the post was likely made in China and that's the only reason why that sub Reddit would be promoting it.
