I could be wrong. I saw ~1300 Normal ICU beds, and 2200 Maximum Surge capacity. I can see that the chart has another 600 beds, but I wasn't sure where that comes from. Either way... everyone needs to CALM THE F*** DOWN
The Fake News media is doing it on purpose. A girl I know who does PR for Texas Childrens just posted a press release from the CEO's of the hospital systems saying that there is a surge but they are well within their capacity. It is a bit legalistic in phrasing, but they put this thing out to counter the panic inducing statement by the media.
Which version of the story will run on the evening news though?
Dude, according to the chart, there's an extra 1500 beds. We're at under 50% of TOTAL capacity.
