He would have been huge MAGA. If you know his stuff, no question. Huge MAGA. He was just awesome..

Just brilliant all around. Light-hearted, fun, yet just a no bullshit person (hence total MAGA)

His writing was my inspiration. That's who I wanted to sound like. Well that's who everyone wanted to sound like. I may need to be more direct in my emulation,

I invite you to his interview of Groucho Marx. Holy shit. Fuck. This is something. You would never find something so incredible on TV now. He gets Groucho to reveal himself a very sad and tragic person. Just incredible. The hidden truth. But yet, then it makes Marx's work seem even more remarkable. A greater appreciation of a sad man who worked so hard to make us laugh.

Not sure what he got in return.

Oh yeah. Lot's of money. So it worked out then.

I used to watch Firing Line in the 80s as a young man, and he really inspired me. I was fortunate enough as an undergraduate and was highly involved in a conservative student organization, which I helped to create, and we accessed student activity funds and brought him to speak on our campus. A friend and I picked him up in a really shitty 87 Sentra. The passenger door only opened from the inside. I was really embarrassed, but he was totally cool about it. He had an amazing talk at our super liberal university and took questions for a long time at the end. Great guy.

The Left lampooned him as an elitist, but he was anything but.

We don't have anybody like him now, unfortunately. In terms of wit and intellect, I would say Ann Coulter comes close, but she lacks his character and intellectual honesty.

National Review is an embarrassment now, obviously.

Uh huh. So look at Trumps' 2000 campaign. Can you tell me which part of it you were in love with?

The truth is Trump was not a great politician in 2000. He wasn't ready. Nor was the country ready. Not sure which part of MAGA requires fantasy beliefs in the past. That is, what if Buckley was right in 2000? Trump has an overbearing personality that seemed to lack a purpose. Trump was NOT good. Trump rightfully pulled back and rightfully developed into a great politician.

If Buckley was right in 2000, why would he not be right in 2016?

Can you name one person who currently supports Trump now who publicly supported him in 2000?

Yeah kind of a hard dance card to fill, isn't it?

And this is a cuck article written by nevertrump asshole. Hmm. But there you are. Linking it. Huh. As a new poster. Your first post???!!! And you knew about this article. How did you know about this article? Serious loser material. How did you come across it. Why did you have the link so available? This is 2016 article, no?

Or did you search for it? Were you looking for something to demoralize legit posters?

So you come to this, a pro-Trump board and say to yourself, "yeah one of the first things I am going to link to is a NeverTrump cuck from 2016."

I wonder what the reason could be.

What was true then is true now. Great interview! Love the old great ones! Especially when they're candid.
