Hey fun fact: do y'all know where the word "slave" comes from?

It comes from the root word "slav", describing people from eastern europe and what is now russia.

Do you know why the two are connected? It's because the (muslim) Ottoman Empire made regular raids into slavic lands in order to secure (white) slaves.

Also, do you actually think that white slavers went deep into Africa to get slaves? Well the reality is that the most powerful African tribe in a given region sold their captives off to the slavers. Complicates the narrative a bit.
