Fun Deforest Kelly story I saw in a 'Which famous people are actually really nice' thread:
A guy working in a hotel received an order to bring a bottle of bourbon up to a room. When he got there Kelly opened the door. He took the bourbon and tipped the guy $50. Then he looked him in the eye and growled "Well? You gonna make a man drink alone, son?". He had a drink with him and chatted about Star Trek.
Apparently he was a lovely man although fairly similar in temperament to Dr McCoy.
Heyyy it's my man, Dr. McCoy! And the Best engineer, Scotty!
