I hate my state. The state senate has voted straight party lines to remove a paragraph from our state constitution. The following statement will be removed "the state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.”

Now in November we will vote to remove Afirmative Actions protections. This bill is also misleading because it is being framed as an affirmative action bill.

This is the definition of racism!!!!

I don't think so. 14th amendment protects against this.

What am I not getting?

The forces of evil shown through monopoly tech companies and 'greater good' NGO's with unlimited amounts of money.

Very interesting times to say the least.

It protects against it once CA has used this change to decimate countless families so badly that the cases eventually end up in front of the Supreme Court, possibly...

By then so much damage will have been done.

This tweet is sensationalist. They voted to send the issue to the voters in November, to repeal the ban on affirmative action in some universities.

The state constitution can't change without the voters' approval.

Its California. We voted to tax ourselves more on gas. We are idiots.

I thought it was a tax on a tax?

Some committee fund to find out why gas prices are so high or something?

Prop-6, it was a repeal on a gas tax. We had the signatures for a "Repeal the gas tax bill" but Xavier Bacerra put it on the ballot as "Prop 6: Eliminates Certain Road Repair and Transportation Funding". Because most Californias are idiots, they thought "oh no we need money for roads" and voted no. While a yes vote would repeal the bill that was flawed from the beginning. Baccerra did the old bait and switcheroo.

Hilarious. I hope more fellow Asians realize just how dangerous the Democratic party is. We have voted against Affirmative Action in Prop 209 before for the UC's, we will have to do so again after these dickless sycophants try to reverse the will of the people.

This is the precursor to removing white people from ceo/board member positions. There are several bills at city levels do this. In Oakland if you want to have a MJ business, you must have a minority that owns 51%.

They will be able to remove the evil white man and replace them legally.

Interesting. So could this mean the recall or disqualification of Gavin Newsom and Diane Feinstein? It’s like the mob is making them dig their own grave!!!

This will backfire as well, there will be more businesses hiring who is more qualified rather than who fits the race they need which will be frowned upon (like it was before). Then there will be riots until the new law states only POC business owners can discriminate.

This is just the first step. Remember when it was "We just want to make sure transgenders have the same rights". Fast forward 7 years "wax my balls bigot"

Does this mean anything for big tech in silicon valley, or are they more equal than other businesses

The CA legislature did, not CA. Still has to go to the voters.

How else is Facebook going to avoid trouble for their preferential hiring of chinese and korean h-1b visa holders. Change the laws so you don't have to change yourself.
