Yes, I did, and if you know and understand the history or the Roman Empire you'll see the parallels between the decline and fall of Rome and the decline of Western Civilization.

The sacking of Rome was was simply the cap stone of a whole litany of failures of the Roman state, legislature, the decline and degeneration of social norms the growing chasm between the elite and the rest of society and the use of the legislative system and political power to enrich an entrenched elite at the expense of the people, currency devaluation, rampant hyper inflation, panem et circenses ie: Bread and circuses to distract and bribe the populace with a dole to keep them compliant.

These problems existed long before the fall, but it's shocking how similar the behavior of the late period Roman Empire was to western civilization in the second half of the 20th Century.

Unchecked massive Gothic immigration of entire tribes, and weapons smuggled or bribed across the border was the nail in the coffin for Rome as they descended on the city like parasites, change my mind.

Yep, under Marcus Aurelius the Germanic migration was resisted, with force. The complacency, moral degeneracy and corruption of the late Roman Empire's elite hamstrung the military, simply looking at the art and architecture the shift is noticeable, from a masculine martial culture to an effeminate decadent society doomed Rome.

A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within.
